1941

Yugoslavia signs Tripartite Pact, becoming part of the Axis Powers.

1942

First trainload of Jews arrives at Auschwitz from Paris.

1943

Meat rationing begins in the U.S.

1945

Battle of Iwo Jima begins. The 115th and last V2 reaches England, landing on Kynaston Road, Orpington, Kent, England. U.S. 7th Army takes Mannheim, Germany.
