1935

Mussolini takes Ethopia.

1940

Under Montgomery, the British 8th Army captures Sfax in Tunisia. Nazis invade Denmark and Norway. German forces occupy Denmark without opposition. Ten German destroyers are sunk by British naval forces in Jossing Fjord, near Narvik.

1941

German troops invade Belgrade. USSR and Japan sign a Neutrality Pact.

1942

Bataan Death March begins. 75,000 Filipino and American troops begin forced march to Cabanatuan. Halsey’s Flagship, Enterprise,  join Hornet in mid Pacific.

1945

Johann George Elser murdered at Dauchau Prison. Roosevelt dies at age 63 in Warm Springs, Georgia. Harry S. Truman becomes President of the U.S. Vienna falls to the Russian Army.
