1939

Conscription Day in Great Britain.

1941

Greek King and ministers evacuate to Cyprus. British Expeditionary Forces begin evacuation of troops to Egypt and Crete. German Troops enter Athens, Greece. Greece surrenders to Nazis. Heinrich Himmler ordered construction of Auschwitz Concentration Camp.

1942

8th Air Force attacks Regensberg, Germany.

1945

Stalag III-A at Luckenwalde is liberated by Soviet troops. US.. and Soviet forces meet at the River Elbe. Speer visits Hitler at the Fuhrerbunker and informs him he has violated Hitler’s orders. Goering commits suicide by ingesting cyanide after being convicted of war crimes in the Nuremburg trials. Assassination attempt on Hitler in Paris. UN Conference begins. Battle for Berlin begins. U.S. and Soviet troops met at the River Elbe.
